See after that, secure
What you can’t see can’t be secured. It’s an axiom worth repeating, and it’s why, when it comes to boosting our clients’ cyber security posture, we emphasize visibility first and foremost.
A recent survey found that only 58% of IT decision makers feel they can accurately describe how many cloud services their firm currently employs, leaving 41% in the dark. In the shadows, danger lurks (particularly of Shadow IT).
I’m pleased to report that visibility of the Chicago skyline will be 100% next month for our 4th annual “Rollin’ on the River” trip. Since 2018, it has become our longest-running event for Cyber Security Made Social.
Time flies when you’re on a boat with a beautiful view, good company, and a drink in your hand.
Dark Data
The management of data that is not visible to the naked eye.
What you can’t see can’t be secured. More than half of a typical company’s data is “black,” and over half of IT leaders are unaware of the exact number of cloud services being used, opening the door to cyber attacks. To reduce risk, learn how to shine a light on dark data, particularly in the cloud.
Prevention or reaction?
Cyber security and IT professionals believe they still spend more work avoiding intrusions than remediating them, with one-third doing so at an 80/20 or higher ratio. These findings support the widespread belief that organizations continue to emphasize prevention over incident response.
